She's Made It! And I Am Turning Into A Girly!

Hi Sweeties,

Friday evening in Galway, it’s cold but there’s a fire burning and a glass of lovely red wine in front of me to warm me from the inside. It’s still raining a lot here, but the worst of the flooding in the countryside is over, although I think the hard work for those people affected only starts now that the water is receding and they are left with all the mud and dirt.

Daniela made it to Galway on Wednesday and we spent a lovely evening together, but we sure didn’t have enough time. We had dinner and then sat together for a while talking and then got in the mood for music. Daniela has seen “Editors” live recently and loves them. I only knew two of their songs (one is “Munich”, the other one I don’t even know the title of) and liked these two a lot, so Stephan turned into our YouTube DJ and we listened to some “Editors”, then “Interpol” (they are gorgeous, I really love their music and the voice, which by the way is quite similar to the voice of the singer of “Editors”) and other stuff.

When I was a teenager I used to listen to music for hours every day, while I was doing other things and also just for the sake of it, just sitting in my room and listening. Somewhere along the way of growing up this got lost and I wonder why? I guess it’s one of those things taken away by having to make a living, by everyday life – and that’s sad! I still do it sometimes, just sit down and listen to music, but not enough! So now that the time for New Year’s resolutions is approaching (and I’ll write some more on this topic shortly!), maybe that should be one of mine: To listen to music more often!

Anyway, the time we got to spend with Daniela was far too short, one reason being that I had to work the next day and I cannot help but being sensible and go to bed at a time that gives me enough sleep to be fit the next day. The times when I went to work too tired or even hungover are gone – one of the many things that come with growing older…

But on another level I seem to get back to my teenage years – now all of you men reading this, be warned, I might bore you to death now…I warned you, skip the next paragraph if you don’t want to know!

The last time I was really interested in fashion and make up was maybe in my early to mid twenties. Not that since then I’ve been running around naked-faced and in old fashioned clothes (which means for the last 12-17 years), but I couldn’t really be bothered, except for those occasions when one obviously wants to look nice, like parties. But I seem to go through some kind of change at the moment. Yesterday I ended up watching videos on YouTube on how to apply foundation and eye make up. And today I not even washed (!) all the different make up brushes I have gathered over the years (about 10 altogether, for foundation, powder, eye shadow, lipstick etc.) to start using them again, I also put on make up in the morning, went into town and spend a whopping amount of money at the Body Shop for some new “essentials”. Now first of all I have to stress that I buy all my decorative stuff (i.e. make up) from the Body Shop because not only are the products very good but also – and that’s mandatory for me – not tested on animals. And when I say “essentials” that’s kind of what I mean, I am not starting to wear lipstick now, but the blusher I have been using until this morning was about 8 years old – seriously. So I binned it and got a new one, also some new powder (my recent one is almost empty), a new concealer (old one empty) and eye shadow (last one long gone). And because I spent so much money I got a shimmering coconut body butter for free.

But the new me doesn’t stop there, I could also spend a fortune on clothes at the moment. Notice that I write COULD – I don’t really do it (although I might purchase something special next week, but I am not gonna tell you about it now, maybe if and when I have it), but there is so much lovely stuff out there! I am not sure if it’s just a case of today’s fashion being my kind of thing or me becoming interested in fashion generally, but oh do I need someone to stop me! Or win the lottery so I can buy whatever I feel like – and maybe make a fool of myself…

Well, to finish tonight’s post I want to thank everyone who has sent me an e-mail reply to my recent blog posts! I love to hear from you and I will get back to you with a personal e-mail soon. And in case some of you don’t know this (I know most do), you can always leave a comment on my blog right underneath each post. And if you added your name to the list of followers that would make me very happy!

One very last thing – but oh so important: I got my Placebo tickets on the post today!!! Going to see them at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 15th December – YEAH!!!

So I am leaving you now, still sipping my red wine and listening to the new “Editors” CD which Stephan has just downloaded from i-tunes (he likes them, too!).

Stay warm during those cold nights and for those of you who don’t like winter just remember that it’s only another 25 days until the days grow longer and the nights get shorter!

Take care,
Nathalie
